It is packaged in a heavyweight matt laminated sleeve and accompanied by a lithographic print of the classic cover art and an obi strip. Listen to Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Music from the Motion Picture) by Tom Holkenborg on Apple Music. The audio was sourced from a Japanese Mega Drive console, alongside archival files supplied by Sonic Team. ![]() ![]() Sonic Spinball is presented as a 180g translucent blue vinyl edition, remastered in-house and cut at 45RPM. Composed by Howard Drossin, Brian Coburn and Barry Blum from the SEGA Technical Institute in the USA (where the game was also developed), the music of Sonic Spinball is suitably darker, industrial and wholly unique for a Sonic game of the era. This change of game style, along with the industrial- themed level designs, also inspired a very different kind of Sonic soundtrack. Originally released in 1993 for the Mega Drive/Genesis console, Sonic Spinball was an ambitious hybrid of pinball and platforming and a significant departure from previous Sonic the Hedgehog games. "Released in partnership with SEGA, Data Discs is proud to announce the debut vinyl edition of Sonic Spinball. It is currently out of print, but you can buy it on Ebay, plus you can get it on the Nintendo Gamecube collection "Sonic Gems Collection".Cartridge Headshells / Alignment / Cleaners The actual game itself however, is a masterpiece and puts all of the fairly mediocre games of Sonic's we have seen in recent years to shame. The two vocal tracks (Toot Toot Sonic Warrior and Cosmic Eternaty) are nice poppy tracks, that open and end the game, plus the four variations of the Zone Stages music, are very well put together, that creates both atmosphere and head-bopping. On to the sountrack itself, if you like listening to Old-School Rave, mixed in with J-Pop (Japanese Pop Music), this is gonna be right up your street, and it goes so well with the game itself. Now this soundtrack just plain rocks! I have been a fan of the Sonic The Hedgehog video games since I was 4, and out of all the Sonic games, this one (for the Mega CD add on for Sega's Megadrive/Genesis)in my opinion is easily his best both for the game itself, and it's kick-ass soundtrack. NOTE: This review is for the Japanese/Europeen Version of the soundtrack, as the US version has a different one. Windows ports of the game used the North American soundtrack, later console ports used the original soundtrack in Japan only and the North American soundtrack in all other regions, and the 2011 remake included both (albeit with some vocals removed from the original soundtrack due to licensing issues.) The North American Sega CD release almost entirely replaced the soundtrack with one composed and produced by Spencer Nilsen and David Young and featuring just one theme song, "Sonic Boom" however, music for the "past" version of each level is carried over from the original soundtrack as these tracks were programmed into the game and could not be as easily replaced. This version was also used for the European Mega CD release. The original soundtrack for the Japanese Mega CD release was composed and arranged by Naofumi Hataya and Masafumi Ogata and features two theme songs, "Sonic - You Can Do Anything" and "Cosmic Eternity - Believe in Yourself". There are, broadly, two different soundtracks to this game.
